16 Ways to Make Christmas 2019 More Enjoyable

12.11.2019

The festive season is right on our doorstep once again. If you’d like to make 2019 a Christmas to remember, it pays to start planning early.

There’s no such thing as getting too far ahead on your Christians planning. The more you tackle now, the more time you’ll have to relax and enjoy yourself later.

Here are 16 ways to make Christmas 2019 more enjoyable:

  1. Set a budget and stick to it. Don’t make the mistake of spending more than you can afford to and starting the new year with a financial hangover.

  2. Keep it simple. There’s no need to get carried away with every little detail. Christmas should be about wonderful times with family and friends.

  3. Get into the festive spirit early. Hit the High Street, take in the Christmas lights, head out to a carolling concert and so on.

  4. Create new traditions. It doesn’t really matter what they are just as long as they’re something the whole family can enjoy and keep enjoying as the years go by.

  5. Buy gifts in advance. Save yourself the time, effort and stress of shopping last-minute by ordering gifts in advance online.

  6. Buy long-life food items early. There’s plenty you can buy now and it will still be good come the big day. Examples of which include beer, wine, cranberry sauce - almost anything dried, bottled or preserve.

  7. Deck the halls whenever you like. If you want to get into the Christmas spirit early, why not get started with the lights and decorations right now?

  8. Make your own cards. It means so much more and you don’t have to be an artistic genius to make cute and creative Christmas cards.

  9. Bake your own goodies. Baking festive treats with family and friends is as much about the ceremony as it is the final result.

  10. Get a letter from Santa Claus. You’re never too old to get a warm and fuzzy feeling inside when you receive a personalised letter from the big guy himself.

  11. Or perhaps a video message. Better yet, you could organise a personalised video message from Santa, transmitted directly from the North Pole.

  12. Bring out the board games. Ditch the TV and video games for a couple of hours to bring the family together with a classic board game.

  13. Christmas movie night. In the run-up to the big day, organise a Christmas movie night with your festive favourites, plenty of mulled wine, candles and popcorn.

  14. Build bridges. If there’s a friend or family member you’ve lost contact with, make now the time to reconnect. Don’t just text or e-mail them - call them for a real chat.

  15. Get out and about. Even if the weather is awful, there’s no reason not to wrap up and enjoy a festive stroll out in the countryside with your nearest and dearest.

  16. Do something selfless. As Christmas is a time of giving, what better time to give something back to a good cause? Support a charitable organisation and make it a Christmas to remember for all the right reasons.
